Can K’s be both good and bad?

One feature of this year’s leagues that did irritate me was the decision to not only give the pitcher points for a strike-out but also deduct points from the batter. This clearly doesn’t make sense. Either the K is an achievement by the pitcher or it is a failure by the batter. It cannot be both. This is especially true when the pitcher and the batter are both on the same (fantasy) team. The pitcher is effectively punished for doing a good thing by being denied the full value of  his achievement

Could the same not be argued for runs, though? (But it’s the opposite way around – we both award hitters for runs/RBI and penalise pitchers for earned runs given up.)

Adding a negative scoring category for hitters was intended to balance out adding earned runs as a negative for pitchers, one part of various changes requested that essentially reduced down pitcher scoring.

Personally, I thought it added a bit more nuance to hitter selection that you had to consider their propensity for striking out lots alongside hitting dingers!

          Agreed!
It’s more challenging selecting hitters that are good as well as not striking out a lot……as well as Starters who don’t give too many earned runs
