Welcome to this month’s FBUK Update! We’re celebrating 15 seasons of Fantasy Baseball UK – check out our article that has a little look back over that time.
We’re entering the business end of the season now and in the Main Game Brian Hastie is quickly making himself the fantasy manager to beat as we head towards the game’s conclusion on 30 September (the final day of the MLB regular season). Here’s the full July round-up from the game.
FBUK All-Star Team of the Month: July
Based on fantasy points accumulated, here’s the month’s top performers at each position:
The Cleveland Indians’ infield pair, Jose Ramirez and Francisco Lindor led the fantasy points rankings in July. Ramirez, the official American League Player of the Month, batted .322 with eight home runs, eight doubles, two triples, 25 RBI and a league-leading 11 stolen bases during the month. Add in 19 walks in July and he had a .441 on-base percentage.
His team mate Lindor hit seven home runs including two multi-homer games on 2 and 27 July. He also had nine doubles, a triple and knocked in 21 runs.
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich was a hitting machine, notching 42 hits for a .400 batting average in the month. This included four homer runs, 11 doubles and two triples. Yelich recorded a .438 batting average.
Fantasy Manager of the Month: July
After two successive placings among the top five managers in each of the previous two months, Brian Hastie hasn’t slowed the pace and in July this resulted in him finally winning the Manager of the Month title with his team Boab’s Braves.
Fantasy league standings (top) up to 10 August
Manager of the Month Brian Hastie has made rapid progress to the top of the Main Game standings with his team Boab’s Braves. Currently, it looks like he and Ludo Basse (Stantonomore) are in a two-horse race for the championship as they have opened up a 200 point gap over the rest of the pack since last month.
In the $5m Game and Limited Trade Game respectively, Stuart Burnett (The 5 Million Dollar Men) and Keith Jeffery (Atlantic Crossing) continue to enjoy fairy comfortably leads that they have maintained since the first month of the season.
Thanks for playing, and good luck for the rest of the season!
